Personally I enjoyed the book. I did not care for the characters personalities, but they were definitely very realistic and it was well written. As I read it, I just felt so grateful for my life and my marriage and all the good things in my life. I wonder if the hype from it impacts some people's opinions - going in with too high of expectations and therefore being disappointed. I have no desire to see the movie, but that is not uncommon for me.

If you are into slow progression of the theme and main idea in a novel. It was a bit drawn out of a book. This story could have been complete in 10 less chapters. Especially with the way that it ended. Can someone say, "lacking." If at 150pages still not keeping your interest, just wait for the movie. Lol

After 50 pages, I am bored. Does it get better or should I hang it up?
Thanks

I was hooked at the beginning of Gone Girl but thought it got really stupid at the end.

Spoiler
IMO, the female character went from being evil and conniving to being a dolt when she was robbed at the motel. I thought her behavior from that point on was an unbelievable turnaround from her earlier behavior. I also couldn't understand why the husband acted like such wimp at the end.

I don't plan to see the movie.

Spoiler..

I don't like books or movies where the entire story is a misdirection all the way to the "surprise" twist ending.

Actually, the twist or surprise is in the middle of the book. (The ending is just not as predictable as some may think.) The author actually wrote the screenplay for the film, and she wanted this depicted in the film in the exact same way.
