Because of this, for Winds of Winter, they have purposefully not given out any official release dates yet and won't be until the book is written and probably edited and ready for release. They are finally learning from their mistakes. And since I think Martin hasn't even finished writing it yet, there is no proposed release date.

Anyway, my biggest concern is that the TV show will catch up to the books. Some of the character's timelines have been pushed forward and caught up to the books already - they only need another season or two to catch the rest up. Which means if Winds of Winter isn't released by 2016, they might have to delay the TV show. Even if they still have content to use for season 6 which will be aired in spring of 2016, they need to start filming season 7 in fall of 2016 in order to air it in the spring of 2017. And of course the scriptwriters need to do their job before filming. So no book by 2016 = no season 7 in 2017.

And then of course there's the next books. Even IF Winds of Winter makes it out before fall of 2016 and they can use it for season 7, they'll only have one book's worth of content to cover maybe another season after that. Martin certainly won't finish the next book within 2 years. So we are undoubtedly looking at a delay in the TV show, whether it be after season 6, 7, or 8, it WILL happen unless Martin really buckles down.
