How much do the average paperbacked fiction books cost in the US? In the UK you can get them for 6 to 10 GBP which is quite cheap but I was just wondering.

I don't know which kind of books you mean, but we seem to have several kinds of imprints which range from ~6.99 for some and up to ~14.00 for higher-end publications.

And if you buy them at used bookstores, you can get some paperbacks for as little as 25-50 cents each.

i can't believe how much paperback books cost these days! I am really showing my age, but now they range from 6.99 to 8.99 and I remember when 1.99 was the going rate.
I like to look for used paperbacks at our local library's used book sale. they do it twice a year. then, the books are .25 cents!

Our public library system accepts used paper back and hard cover books and sells the paperbacks for $.25 a piece to raise funds for the library. The hard cover books, I think, are $1.00 or $2.00.

Since I read so many books and there are only so many one can store, I really enjoy showing up at the library with 30 or 40 paperbacks and 10 - 12 hard covers at a time.

The library benefits and I benefit knowing that one other person who perhaps cannot afford to own a book now has that opportunity.
