The best that I've read is probably The Worst Hard Time, about the Dust Bowl in the 1930s.

I'd very much like to read a history of the Mississippi River flood of 1927 - any recommendations?

Read the reviews to find out if you would like to read it. It seems to have high recs from readers.

Hope this helps!

Yesterday I took a friend who is currently unable to drive to a therapy appointment and brought along my Kindle, happy to have an hour to spend reading guilt free. However, it took me almost 15 minutes to decide which of the 278 unread books I should enjoy. I guess there is a downside to having so many books carried so easily.

Oh, there are also stacks and stacks of physical books on the 'to be read' shelf, er, um, I mean bookcase. Yup, so many books, so little time. I thought that once I retired I'd be gobbling down books at a wonderful rate but alas, retirement from paid work does not mean all that much free time.

I haven't heard from her and was wondering too, but her last post here (//www.city-data.com/forum/53741415-post21972.html) said that she was crazy-busy AND got a new puppy. I was going to say "so she must still be busy" but, yeah, I'd like to hear that she's okay.

I just sent her a DM, which should trigger an email to her, asking her to check in.

Good. They used to take off in the RV, but now they have the goats.

I just heard from her. She's fine. Busy, but fine. She's taking puppy classes with the puppy. The goats are having babies. Life is busy but she's good.

I see that greatblueheron is now "Not a member."

I sent her an email from the C-D option but if she didn't have a valid email set up in her account or whatever, she'll never see it.

Is anyone in contact with her?

I download probably 99% of my books from my libraries. I almost never check my downloaded books on Amazon. Twice in the last 2-3 months my credit card statement shows purchased books. These are books I did not buy. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The first time it took me some time for them to refund because the seven day return period had expired. Now, I find another non purchase on my card.

What??? No! Is it possible that you have the One-Click option set up AND that you accidentally clicked it?
