It would be nice to have 50-75%+ of the reader group give their okay on this tentative schedule before we call it. The challenges for the group have been getting the books and getting consensus.
And of course two of our leaders haven't checked in either.
We'll go with Kite Runner for the 25th of March and post updates as we get the consensus I am looking for. :
Ontheroad....how many books do you read at a time? What is your particular favorite genre? Just curious because I read your posts and think you have such varying tastes. Were you ever an English major?
OTR, I have a hard time getting all the books at once. I am done with Kite Runner but want to discuss it before I get much into another book. Simple mind gets simply confused if I read more than one at a time. Tee hee hee. I am up for those but I have to take it one book at a time!
I usually read one at a time, but have been known to have three going--reading in different parts of the house and different genres--but not often.
I'm not certain I have a preferred genre, but I have preferences on style and content. I've read hi-brow literature that frankly didn't measure up to some excellent science fiction, and have read children's literature that ranked up there with the Nobel Prize winners.
I want a story, fiction or non fiction, or any genre, to read smoothly even if it is compounded by commas; to have a quick engaging introduction, and a solid finished ending.
I was a literature major in undergraduate school.

Not trying to rush ya, my friend...just a general this schedule seems to make sense or is just non-sense.

No rushing felt....I am usually a slow reader but I did read Kite Runner in one night. So maybe I can keep up! Next time we put up a poll I want to throw out a kid's fiction...The Giver. I forgot all about that book until I went to the library today!
Of the four books on our shelf, so to speak, after the Kite Runner, The Road and The Wall, are less challenging unless one gets caught up in the subject matter and has to put one or both aside.
The Suite Francaise, however, is a tougher road to travel.
A children's book could be terrific fun to discuss.

What about Harry Potter? Or maybe one of Beverly Cleary's novels?
