I ran across this article today, and I reminded myself that I had not reread Little Women as an adult. I did read most of the books in Alcott’s series when I was a girl. I am sort of surprised that they are still beloved today, although perhaps mostly by older women remembering reading them as young girls.

I am curious. What do you think of tbe article? And, if you read Little Women when you were young, have you reread it as an adult? What did you think of it then?

I've re-read Little Women (and Little Men and Jo's Boys) numerous times as both a child and as an adult. Yes, it's a bit preachy but it's my favorite comfort food for the brain.

And I loved that piece, thank you so much for sharing it. It explains perfectly why Bhaer on the surface looks so wrong to be Jo's match, but is really the perfect man for her.

I think most women figure out over time that intelligence, kindness and a sense of humor (which is definitely present in the books) ends up winning out over most other characteristics. Not surprising that Jo was smart enough to recognize that at a fairly young age, once she got over her youthful infatuation with Laurie.
