Actress Mindy Kaling described her ideal book club:

Q: If you belong to a book club, tell us about it. If you don’t, tell us what your ideal book club would be like.

A: My book club would be held on Sunday afternoons. Dress code: warm-weather black tie. Cocktails from 3 to 3:30. Chitchat from 3:30 to 4. Personal drama from 4 to 5. Book discussion from 5 to 5:30. Early dinner from 5:30 to 7. Then everyone goes home.

Way too many rules for me!

I once belonged to a book club of 4 members.

We rotated houses, and we always served appetizers and snacks buffet style.

We talked about our lives probably equally as much as the books.

We had a great time until two of us moved away.
