I liked Crawdads well enough, but I didn't love it like some people did. And I definitely wouldn't put it on my 10 best ever list.

Correcting myself. Bryce Courtenay is the author. Bower narrated the audio version.

I don't have an all time top 10 list. I have been maintaining top 10 lists for each year since 2019, so there they are. My blog posts have all of the books I read those years to compare.

2019

01 Olive Kitteridge (Olive Kitteridge #1), Elizabeth Strout 2008
02 The History of Bees (Klimakvartetten #1), Maja Lunde 2015
03 The Art Forger, B.A. Shapiro 2012
04 The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, Lisa See 2017
05 Where the Crawdads Sing, Delia Owens 2018
06 Exhalation, Ted Chiang 2019
07 The Night Fire (Renee Ballard #3, Harry Bosch #22), Michael Connelly 2019
08 A Dangerous Man, Robert Crais 2019
09 Beartown (Bjornstad #1) by Fredrik Backman, Neil Smith (Translator) 2016
10 Pachinko, Min Jin Lee 2017

2020 ( to date )

01 Bottle of Lies: The Inside Story of the Generic Drug Boom, Katherine Eban 2019
02 Rabbit Cake, Annie Hartnett 2017
03 Idaho, Emily Ruskovich 2017
04 Dangerous Doses: How Counterfeiters Are Contaminating America's Drug Supply, Katherine Eban 2005
05 In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, Nathaniel Philbrick 2000
06 The End of the World Running Club, Adrian J. Walker 2014
07 Chasing the Dime, Michael Connelly 2002
08 The Reversal (Mickey Haller #3), Michael Connelly 2010
09 The Brass Verdict (Mickey Haller #2), Michael Connelly 2008

My problem is that most of my top 10 would include a lot of nonfiction. In this example, Bottle, Dangerous Doses, Heart of the Sea, and Creatures are all nonfiction.

Both of those are based on true events, but they are written like novels / stories, which I obviously liked. That's why they are included in this survey.
