Default Young adult books set in Africa?

I don't like super dark topics, murder, or horror but I want to learn more about African culture and history, as well as read young adult books that aren't set in the US, UK, or Canada. I love romance, drama, music, travel, and friendship themes. Thank you!

"Mister Johnson" by Joyce Cary is a classic that comes to mind, on some school readung lists. . Also some titles by Wilbur Smith. His "Shout at the Devil" was made into a film. I read "Out of Africa" to my son when he was 7.

You'd probably get a better response in the "book" section. Not sure why you deleted your post there.

Did you bother doing any search, any search at all, on your own?

Even looking only at basic Newbery books, you'd find books like:
Call It Courage
Young Fu of the Upper Yangtze
The Good Master
Secret of the Andes
Island of the Blue Dolphins
I, Juan de Pareja
Shadow of a Bull
