I thought The Time Traveler's Wife was horrible. If you want to be depressed for a month, by all means, read it (or go see the movie, out this summer!). For fun, light lunch-break reading I always enjoy shorter books like The Lovely Bones, The Reader, The Life of Pi, and always any of the Harry Potters.
Really want to read Drowning Ruth. anyone read that? thoughts?

I had Pillars of the earth for while on the throne, and after 150 pages or so, put it down, not because of the story line which was so-so, but his careless writing style got on my nerves.
sure. it's short. that to me is "light" reading, and ANY reading is fun I'm thinking though that any book worth reading wouldn't really be classified as "light" intellectually, I just try to stick to easy or shorter ones on my lunch.
For action and intrigue, you cannot beat The Exile, and the Machiavelli Covenant by Allan Folsom. They are long books, but so exciting, you will get through them quickly. Also, any of the Michael Chrichton ( I think I spelled that wrong!) books are good reads.
What did you think of World without End? I like Pillars A LOT more. The sequel got a little crazy in parts for me. Lol. I would still recommend it tho.
