Her newest that came out last fall, Dust, was great. I really enjoyed it (checked out from the library, of course).

How Cornwell has changed her writing to compete with readers' reduced attention spans:

“I find that people now have such short attention spans that I have to try really hard to keep the suspense going, so they don’t have a reason to put down my book and read 20,000 tweets instead,” Cornwell says, with unexpected candour.

I used to love the Scarpetta books but the last few I read were so blah I decided I have too many other books that I want to read to be bothered reading blah.

I just finished reading it. By the end of the book I was feeling disappointed; not sure it's because of the story line, or whether the structure of the book was too clearly formulaic. Anyway, I think I'm done reading about Kay Scarpetta.

I used to buy her books the day they were released, but lost interest years ago. I think Blow Fly was the last one I read. It's a shame, I really used to enjoy her novels a great deal.

Kay Scarpetta is apparently no more. Cornwell has started a new series with a young female scientist as the protagonist. I had a hard time getting into her newest, Quantum, which came out a few months ago.

^^ I was wrong, thankfully; she's back. Cornwell has a new book Autopsy, featuring Kay Scarpetta, who has returned to her former job as Chief Medical Examiner. I'm about a third of the way through, and it's a great read so far.

I loved her books back in the day, but as others have mentioned, something changed and they no longer had the same appeal for me. I think the last one I read in the series was Blow Fly.

I may have to give this new one a chance. Thanks for the heads up, CA4Now!
