IMHO...JUST DRIVEL!!!...One a week for years it seems. THOUGH...I loved STAND BY ME(the movie)......adapted from a GREAT novella( THE BODY) . Any other OPINIONS??? PLEASE NO hate mail....LOL. It's only my opinion. PS...I still think he and Janet Reno are the same person...just in drag(depending on the role necessary) Ever notice the uncanny resemblance????

Janet Reno - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stephen King - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I never have been able to get into his books either, and I have met plenty of other book worms that feel the same way. He is actually a rather polarizing author I feel as this debate comes up fairly often. People love/hate him and usually will defend their positions feverishly. My older brother, who I usually like anything he reccomends to me, had read every page SK has every written and loves it. So, I guess it's just different strokes for different folks, but I am in the "dislike" camp.

I agree, I always did have trouble with Stephen King's novels. It's not that they are hard to read, just depressing. I have to say though that he is an excellent writer. It's just the topics I don't like.

He did do Shawshank Redemption which is one of my husband's favorite movies. He also did Green Mile, I believe. It seems that when his name isn't used as part of the title, the movie is fantastic!

I agree for the most part. I actually enjoyed many of the movies until the last 20 minutes or so, then they seem to fall apart on screen. Some of his books don't translate well to film either. I did enjoy Stand By Me, Shawshank Redemption, Misery, Pet Semetary, Christine, Storm of the Century, 1408, The Shining, and Carrie on film, though The Shining was better in print.

Not a big fan of his books either, I've tried to read many of them but I don't think I've ever finished one. They are just too heavy. On the other hand, I have a friend who is a SK fanatic. Personally, I think King must be a genius to be able to produce like he has, and to such acclaim and mass appeal. But I do think his books make great movies--LOL! The Shining, Carrie, Cujo, and two of my favorites are Misery and Dolores Claiborne.

I'm glad someone understands...I really have nothing personal against the man; but REALLY...COME on. That IT(movie, book)...drivel.....(a big spider) .I tried watching.."Perfect Storm"..Whatever...It should/could have been a half hour drama...not a day long bore. .

I have never read one of his books, although I am an avid reader. I have however watched many of his movies and LOVE them. I can however see how the books might be a hard thing to get through. I like thriller movies but have never been into that kind of thing with books.

I disliked THE SHINING...I thought it was funny/campy! But I forget about CARRIE; I'll give him credit for that...what a morbid mind???
