During the day the AMC theater in Boston Common is no problem to get to via the T. But what if you want to catch a late night show? Is there any cheap parking nearby?

How late is the show? If it runs very late, you'll need to drive, but if it's during usual hours in the prime of the evening the T should still be an option.

no real cheap parking I know of unfortunately. My advice is if you want to drive and catch late movie, try going to Fenway Regal instead. Parking lot there is MUCH cheaper.

What time would the movie let out? Last T is 12:45 or so.

The underground Common Garage is about $11 at night. I don't think you'll do better in that area unless you get lucky finding a street spot. But, yeah, if you want cheap movie theater parking, the Fenway Regal Cinemas validates parking in the attached garage for $4.

We were looking at an 1130 showing, the $4 parking at Regal sounds much better. I think we'll be heading to Fenway. Thanks!

Jayangel - do you live in Quincy? When I lived in Quincy, we used to always go to the Showcase Cinemas in Randolph instead of going into Boston. It's probably a similar drive time as going to Fenway (esp. late night when traffic is light). About 20-25 min or so. I haven't been there in a few years, but I think it's a De Lux cinema now (i.e., they serve drinks). It's a big suburban theater with free parking and not far off the highway. It gets chaotic on weekends, but shouldn't be bad for the late late showings.

I second the Showcase recommendation. It's a great theater and IS a Cinema De Lux (also have regular seating). Also, free parking. If you want a cool "luxury" movie going experience, try the Lux Level . It's $20 each, but you get giant seats (you can reserve a specific seat online), a full menu of real food, and a full bar menu all of which is delivered to your seat. Lux Level is 21+ so no worries about tweens spoiling the show. The Randolph Theater is huge. I want to say there are four levels (two underground) and I don't know how many screens. To me, it feels like an airport terminal (minus the lines and the borderline sexual assault).

If you do the Lowe's on the common, there's a garage right next door (enter on Boylston and I think there's another Entrance on Avery). Parking is $12 after 5 all week.

There are tons of street spots around the common that are free at night, you can always find something if you circle once or twice.

I go out to the bars/clubs in that area almost every other weekend and haven't parked in that garage in the past 5 years.
