My girlfriend and I are planning on visiting Boston next Wednesday and were planning on taking the Red Line from Quincy (it seems that Braintree parking fills up quite fast) to downtown. We'd be leaving around 3 in the afternoon. Is the Quincy station safe and would parking be easy to find at 3 PM?

Thanks in advance for any info you can help out with.

Station should be safe, but I don't know much about the parking there.

There is a good sized garage and parking lot at North Quincy. You should be able to find a space, as I've never seen that lot full. Not sure about Quincy Center. Both will be plenty safe, day or night.

The later in the weekday, generally the easier the parking because people have started coming back from work/meetings/appointments that took them into the city in the AM. North Quincy is a pretty big garage and alss puts you closer to town than Braintree. It's safe, but you must use common sense and lock the door and keep all valuables and bags (even if empty) out of sight. Like any parking garage anywhere, you don't want to make your car a target. Don't forget that the parking garage charge is $7 or so.

Thanks for the advice everyone. We ended up parking at Quincy Adams and everything went fine. Well, the green line train we got on had to wait at Park St. for about 20 mins because of a "medical emergency" and we were late for our appointment at Simmons College, but it generally went fine. Apparently delays on the T are a way of life in Boston. No one complained. Or looked surprised.

Delays on the green line are especially common, though 20 minutes during the daytime right downtown might be unusually long evern for the green line. A medical emergency is tjust one of those things that will happen from time to time, though.

Glad it all went well. Thanks for checking back in with the update.
