If you've been in the workforce for 15 years, then you are waaaay too old to be at Gypsy.

But if waiting in line to pay money to listen to ****ty "music" and "dance" with college kids is your idea of fun, knock yourself out.

They call it "creeper."

At 25, I feel too just walking by Gypsy.

Wow that's a totally interesting perspective and actually says a lot about the area.

In NY, you can go clubbing at any age, but here it's different. The ladies in "Sex and the City" commonly go clubbing and they're pushing 50 now. I was wondering why I've seen so many young people pushing around baby carriages around Cambridge.

So you take your cues from Sex and the City?

I'm shocked that you missed the point yet again.

That particular venue is populated by college kids mostly 21 and 22 years old. There are plenty of places to go for people in their mid-late 20s, 30s, 40s, etc. and Gypsy isn't one of them.

Every city, including New York, has different places that cater to different crowds. You won't see too many 40 and 50 year old politicos in Washington swilling beer and eating Pizza in Adams Morgan. There's a big difference between the Upper East Side crowd and the Williamsburg crowd in New York. But thanks for the Sex and the City illustration... very insightful.

“Fashion is what seems beautiful now but looks ugly later"

"When in Rome, do as Romans"

It is just as pointless for someone from New York to criticize Boston fashion, as it is from someone from Boston to criticize Brazilian fashion.

I am pretty sure that the definition of fashion goes something like "a set of common dress practices among a group of people who share ethnic, social or geographic characteristics"

Boston style has evolved based on it's unique history, socio-economic factors, climate and ethnicity. North Face keeps people warm. Plaid shorts and a polo shirt signal of belonging to a certain social group. Clothing code facilitates communication by identifying other people with similar background.

When people move to Boston they adjust their clothing so not to stand out and to fit in the certain boundary.

When people go on vacation to Miami, they pack different kind of clothes, then what they typically wear in Boston. It works both ways.

Boston can be then divided into many smaller geographical subgroups with it's own prevalent fashion style. What you will see on Newbury street will be different even from the nearest Boylston.

I think individual style is more interesting. You can learn a lot about a person's IQ by what they are wearing. It doesn't take a lot of mental processing to wear your pajamas to a grocery store. It takes a higher IQ to process more steps that it takes to put a thoughtful look together (in the shortest amount of time).

I know nothing of Boston's night clubs; perhaps this is an indication of being middle-aged. In any case, i don't think that I'm missing anything, anyway..

In terms of GQ's ranking, I don't give a fig about any judgements from a superficial rag like that..
