Since it's too dangerous for the public to have the police to chase and try to arrest the people riding illegally on dirt bikes and atvs on public roads and in the public parks, the next best thing is to confiscate the dirt bikes and atvs while they are parked and not moving.

Cops call on jakes to help seize dirt bikes at Mission Main | Universal Hub

Quote:
Boston Police report some residents fed up with dealing with dirt bikes let officers know where they could find seven dirt bikes all ready for collection at the Mission Main project yesterday.
And an expanation of the offenses.
Quote:
All were not street legal, and all were parked within ten feet of a dwelling, and both are seizable offenses, police say.
I applaud the police for doing their job. How else would you have the police deal with the groups of people riding on public streets on dirt bikes and atvs illegally? And these vehicles are illegal for their lack of license plates, proper safety equipment (lack of turn signals etc...) and also having a lack of insurance coverage (if they hit a person or damage a car they have no insurance to pay for what they have done). And they shouldn't be riding around in public parks either and endangering the families there.

These police really need to be kept in check. They're out of control.

Where does it say that in the article?

I wouldn't be surprised if they were stolen by the cops. Cops tend to do that a pretty fair amount. One of them has a nice TAG Heur watch of mine.

How do u think these people could afford all these atvs? The fact that they are stolen may not be proven yet. Let's get mad at the police though. If these people are so into atvs that they are driving them on city streets why not move to a more rural area?

Maybe your car gets seized next time you're illegally parked...you know...just to see if it's stolen.

Being illegal on the streets is a ticket at most.

One of these kids should invest in lawyer. Someone needs to keep the city and police in check.
I was in my car in Peabody Square last Friday evening around 7:30, some moron on an unregistered dirtbike came through the very busy square popping wheelies, speeding, and generally following whatever traffic pattern he fancied (i.e. between stopped cars and through red lights). What he was doing was very dangerous and should be punishable by jail and a permanent confiscation of the dirtbike.

These are not trained stuntmen, they are punks.

So because they're black they're poor? And we should assume if they have something of value it is stolen. Got it.

More of the same with you.

I suppose they aren't driving in rural areas, because that is not where they live, and they don't want to move to them because it isn't their home and where there families are. Just a freaking thought.

It would if it wasn't registered or insured or street legal.
