Hello,

I've posted a few times about where to live in boston, and i think I finally have a place.

I decided On Somerville. I'm used to the quiet life, but a more city oriented area could be a good change of pace. Anyway. I ended up finding a place right off Magoun square. It's a bit more removed from the highway and the "fun" squares (Davis, porter, etc), but, it's the best I could do in a weekend (and it's only an 8 month lease, not so bad)

So what are your thoughts on Magoun Square area. Good? Bad? Okay?

How about the commute. I'm going to be doing a reverse commute to Littleton, and Google tells me I should take 495 to 93 to get home, but to get to littleton I should take route two. The former takes 43 miles and is 37 miles and the latter is 45 minutes and is 27 miles. What gives? What do you think? Is google maps insane?

I'd take rte 2. But, don't go through fresh pond. Stay on Broadway through Somerville and into Arlington. Then, cut back onto rte 2 perhaps at lake street.

edited to add: I'd classify Magoun Square as okay. You're a short walk from Ball Square, which is fun, and a slightly longer walk/short car ride from Davis, etc.

Magoun Sq. should be fine. Too bad the Star Market on B-way has been closed a few years now.

But strolling down Main St. into Medford should reveal some Italian bakeries left in the area, plus some Brazilian options nowadays. Joseph's (Main St. nearer Harvard St.) was recommended to me for takeout Italian. I liked their pastas made to order.

I think the Salvation Army store is still there, in case you're into thrift stores.
