I think the suggestions of Quincy and Malden are great, also Melrose. They are all a twenty minute train ride from Boston and they all have their own city feel. And schools are definitely better than boston. But if you can afford to live in downtown Boston and pay for private school for your child, you can really live the dream, but it will cost you. It's been three years since the op posted the first question. Since then prices have also gone up.....

They show up at the bottom of current threads, people click on them to read and then post without realizing it's 3 years old.

I did it once in another forum by mistake. I wasn't familiar with these sorts of forums and I had found information in response to a web search I had done. I replied to the thread and didn't realize until later that it was an old, old thread. Now that I'm familiar with these sorts of forums, I know not to do that, but back then I didn't realize. So I can see how it can happen.

Well, all you need to do is to look at the date of the most recent post to know that it's pretty old, though the topic is always relevant.
