Hey there!

I just wanted some opinions from people who live there. I'm 19 years old, and planning to move to Boston with a friend. I'm a girl and her guitar looking for a new home. I've got more than enough money saved to live comfortably for a while when I get there. I've lived in Reno my whole life and have been wanting to check out the North-east for a while. I love big cities and their energy. I'm a musician and would love a town with a great local music scene. What's it like in Boston? What community colleges do you recommend or hear good things about? How's the economy and job situation? I know the city has a lot of history, but what is the culture and art like? I'm a huge hockey fan and I know Boston is quite the sports town.

Anything and everything is appreciated.

The music scene is highly competitive in Boston. A recent count tallied 5000 bands in Metro-B. The nucleus of the music scene is Berklee Music College which attracts the best from around the world. Steve Vai, Wynton Marsalis, Dream Theatre, Quincy Jones are among the names who have come and gone. If you think you can run with the big dogs, come on! It's pretty pricey though. More than 1K for a studio.

I hear Desiree Bassett started at Berklee this year...

I'd honestly love some competition. It means meeting people who also love music. Music in Reno is dead. I didn't know about Berklee though, I'll definitely check it out!
