You think NYC doesn't have cold winters? It doesn't snow in NYC? Yet, NYC has entire section filled with AA. Maybe the 4 degree temp difference in the deal breaker.

People, white people, black people, people all over hate the cold.

@Jpeirpont- Perhaps learn more about the AA history in the North, in Boston, etc. The comment of blacks on a national scale or whatever is just flat out wrong.

The fact is, Boston, was one of the first to allow AAs to do anything on a national scale. Hell the NAACP & the civil rights movement has it's roots from Boston.

What the heck are people learning about?
That was many decades ago. And since then, there are just as many good opportunities for blacks in other parts of the US, particularly in Atlanta. AND the cost of living is cheaper in the south. And everyone has the freedom to move where they want to. So yes, way back when there was slavery and just afterwards, blacks wanted to move up north (Boston was the end destination of the underground railroad), but now over a hundred years later, Boston is no longer where the majority of blacks want to live. And some from the north over the years did move back south to be with the family members that stayed down there.

Again, we are now decades past MLK and the civil rights movement original activity. Again, who cares that blacks aren't the majority in Boston??? Blacks are only 12% of the US population. Boston has a very small geographic footprint and it's plenty crowded with people already.

Small correction, the Underground Railroad did not end in Boston.

Whatever. The north was where the escaped slaves and later recently emancipated slaves wanted to go to. But that was a very LONG time ago. Where the "hot" cities and places to move to change all of the time. No biggie. It's not a contest. Who cares?

If someone is happy where they are living, they tend to stay a really long time there. But if they aren't or find some other location more to their liking, then they move over there. It's not rocket science people.

MIU reading the past posts, and now this one, IMO you seem to always "miss the target."

Cost of living is cheaper for EVERYONE down south, not just blacks/AA.

As another person posted earlier, Chicago is cold and has more blacks. NYC is cold is also has blacks. Therefore the "it's cold and black people die in the cold" type of logic isn't accurate.

You think perhaps, and I'm just guessing here, the fact that Boston is a "white" city might be one reason why blacks wouldn't want to stay here and therefore relocate?

Would you want to live in a place that didn't offer anything to Asian Americans? Zero culture (now), zero establishments downtown, very weak to low dating scene, etc.

I already know you're thought process is something to the effect of "Then move!" Often times it's not that easy when you have a high paying job, a house, family getting older, etc etc.

I also wanted to point out that no one, ever, in any other 40 pages of this topic said they wanted Boston to have a majority of AA. There is a substantial difference between the majority and having anything that resembles the population percentage of the overall city.

I said zero culture now as believe it or not, Boston was very popular with AA. Some of the most famous AA of the 40s & 50s hung out in Boston as it had many famous AA clubs.

Because it was colonized by whites?

You think Europeans would have spent resources, time, money, building up their towns and cities and then just magicly leave it for another minority to settle it?

Fast forward a few hundred years and here we are.

Kind of a moot question in a country known for its diversity despite historically organized efforts at genocide, segregation, and oppression. We have a complicated history.

Lol, someone woke up on the wrong side of something.

I was trying to avoid coming back to this thread, but I do need to resond to this.

I am not a troll. I just get annoyed when people claim that Boston isn't diverse compared to Philly and DC and other major American cities since that claim is blatantly false.

That is all.
