Now who in their right mind would want to clean something like this? How much would we have to pay for someone to clean a restroom at the T? I'd say maybe about $1000/hr for regular time...double during the night shifts. Triple on weekends and in certain stations. Seriously, would you take a job being a janitor for a restroom at the T?
OK, then. With that attitude I guess you won't mind the stations smelling of **** and crap. And before you tell me "civilized people can hold it or go before," let me remind you that commuter rail trains and stations usually have bathrooms, and someone gets paid to clean them. I'm sure people sometimes have blow outs there also, but that doesn't make them close the bathrooms completely.

Why not the self-cleaning bathroom kiosks that we often hear about from other countries?

Nasty story...

I was driving on the Mass Pike, under the most serious intestinal distress I can recall. The next rest stop was on the way, and I convinced myself I could make it. Meanwhile I'm experiencing terrible cramping, I'm sweating, trying to hold everything in. Due to my lack of concentration, I blow right by the rest stop! Next rest area - 46 miles...

Eventually I realize I'm nto going to make it. I pull over somewhere, and "released the hounds" so to speak. Of course I didn't have TP in my car, so my underpants performed the duty and died a quick death...

Felt 10 pounds lighter for the rest of the drive...

sounds similiar to one of my experiences. i was driving from PA to NJ on route 78 and drove past an exit that had a gas station right there, i was hungover and had some serious beer ****s brewing...sorry its a gross story. i somehow missed the exit because i was wincing in pain and trying as hard as possible not to shat myself. i soon after hit a massive traffic jam and was stuck for over 2 hours. i still dont know how i did it but i held it the whole way. i just couldnt sh_t myself in the car. i had cloth seats!! wouldve ruined my beloved jeep.

Took the Red Line from Ashmont to Park St. every day for several years, never saw anything out of the ordinary.

Just my 2 cents.

I just can't imagine being the person who is outraged witnessing something like this. Grossed out? Heck yeah. But outraged? No way. I mean, what can you do besides laugh? Obviously getting angry with a man going number 2 in front of people on a subway platform gets you nowhere. If you're crazy enough to do that, then no amount of logic will fix the problem. Shake your head, laugh, and [bowel] move on. As far as the public health complaints go, yeah. It's definitely not good. But just because it's visible, doesn't make it much worse than what's there that you can't see. Thousands of people walk through that platform daily. Those people have sewage ranging from bird to human all over the bottom of their shoes. If testing were done, I doubt the levels of fecal matter would be much higher after the number 2 event than before. All that man did was put it in a nice, neat little pile (well, maybe not so nice or neat) for all to see. As someone mentioned earlier, walking through faneuil hall, the blackstone block or even down lansdowne street on a friday or saturday night will put you in contact with far more purged bodily fluids.

Retail stores have had incidents of people defecating inside those circular racks of clothing. And I did hear a story about someone at a Walmart witnessing a customer pooping while walking. It was a person wearing baggy pajama bottoms. As they strolled down the aisle, they sort of just casually shook one of their legs and out came a turd.

Otherwise, I worked with someone who suddenly disappeared off the customer floor during a busy event. And he wouldn't apologize for making more stress and work for me, but insisted that when it was time to "go" there was no way he could put it off.
