Hello Everyone,

My wife and I have been looking to purchase our first multifamily investment property. Being that all of the hot spots in Boston are way over priced and very tough to win a bid we're expanding our search to Dorchester. Property is more affordable, but we're not experts in the area. I'm hoping to get a few opinions that may help us to make a good decision. I've done a ton of research, but nothing is more valuable than knowing the truthful/unbiased details about a neighborhood. In all of our research we're come to the conclusion that property to the east of Dorchester Ave is more desirable. The property we're looking to purchase is a tad north (4 or 5 streets) of Ashmont Station on the East side. In your opinion, would you buy investment property in this area? Although we're not living there, we plan to manage the property and want to learn the business by operating in an area where that's safe and profitable. Thanking you in advance for your input.
