Hello,

Whom does everyone have as their auto insurance carrier? Safeco, my current carrier, does not cover in Mass. Also, I've checked a few others and none of them seem to cover Mass.

Thanks in advance,
GA

Gamsauer - I had the same issue when I moved. I now have Encompass Insurance and I got that through an Insurance company here in MA. Acutally the cost for my car insurance in CA was 1200 a year and now it's less than 700 a year. It went down by almost half for me, which is really nice. I don't know where you plan on living but if you want the insurance companies name I can send that to you and they can at least send you a quote.

Best Wishes to you !!

USAA ----they gave me a good rate, not only on the car but also on the house but you have to have some kind of link to the military I think.

There are not many choices in MA for auto insurance. I have commerce and I believe they have around 40% of the auto insurance policies in MA.

I use Liberty Mutual, which has discounts between 8-12% for a lot of college grads and employees of the large companies in the area. They also have homeowners and renters insurance so you can get an additional discount if you need either of those.

We also use Liberty Mutual (they were our carrier in Ohio as well) and haven't had too many problems except for the "fun" part of dealing with the Registry (MA's DMV).

However, it is likely that with the deregulation that is currently going through legislation that more companies will offer car insurance in MA.

ALL insurance carriers in MA use a standardized system that results in very similar rates for everyone. You may see a difference of a few dollars here and there but that is primarily due to your agent trying to add on extras that you don't need.

Shopping around for an insurance company in MA isn't about finding the lowest cost carrier, its about finding the company with the best service.

with that in mind....

I throw in my vote for Liberty Mutual.
