Anyone else forced to work regardless of the shelter in place recommendation by authorities?
That's pretty awful

I find this pretty hard to believe! Name the business so they can be reported to the federal officials who are attempting to secure the area.

Wouldn't surprise me really... I've worked for independent restaurants before and some of the owners were downright insane!
Also in "this economy" employers know it's not easy right now to just quit and get another restaurant job, so they think they can abuse their employees.
So I think it's possible... the owner or manager whatever is an idiot! He's not going to get his lunch rush today!

I'm at work downtown. I know the Dunks around the corner is open. I'm really hoping the take-out joints are open because I'm getting hungry.

Boston is a fine city and the people have certainly shown their strength during this crisis, but in this case, something of this level, most any city would shut down.

And I believe there are TOS regs regarding using profanity, so you might consider editing your post before its done for you.

Its up to the poster, I'm not going to assume he is not being honest, there are some jerks that care less about anything but a buck. I do think people would like to know about any business that would not shut down in a crisis such as this. Who would want to give someone like that their business.

If they actually fire him, I'm sure he could find a lawyer happy to file a lawsuit, and I have no doubt a jury would find in the fired employee's favor given what's happening there right now.
