hey all!

i need to come to boston soon and my appointment is about a 10 minute walk from south station. i'm trying to decide whether to take the bus (i'm an hour away up north) or drive down. my worry is that i won't be able to find parking. there are a bunch of parking garages nearby - does anyone know if they'd probably be filled by 10 am and/or have any tips for parking in this area? thanks!

The garage in Post Office Square is pretty sizeable and I've always had good luck finding spaces in there.

The garage under the Hyatt (entrances on Ave De Lafayette and Chauncy St) always has spaces as well.

fantastic! thank you both. my appointment is less than a mile from both those places (toward summer st). i'll probably just take a cab or bus the rest of the way there.

i'm open to any other parking suggestions too - i love having back-ups.

What address range on Summer St. will you need?

If the 200-400 block, perhaps the surface lot on Northern Avenue/Seaport Boulevard may do. It's across from the Moakley Courthouse; it used to be reasonably priced ten years ago, but with all the recent development there, not so sure anymore.

Is your interview in the Seaport District? I also recommend the Northern Avenue outdoor lot. It always has plenty of self-park spots and is inexpensive for Boston Parking.

A little more than 10 years ago, I worked down there and I think that lot was $7/day back then while lots in the heart of the city were $20+. I can't imagine it's still anywhere near that cheap.

MikePru, I think you need to get into town more often. Parking at most indoor lots in Boston is $30 or more now. There are some nice coupon sites online to find occasional bargains.

I go downtown from time-to-time. I was quoting parking rates of the time as a point of comparison. I haven't been down to the Seaport area too many time recently though. I do love dinner at Del Frisco's though.

For everyone's information, parking at top hotels in Boston for guests is around $43-$47 now, plus tax. And I doubt it's for 24 hours. It's just for the hotel stay? Wow...

Is tax over 10%? Not sure. I think in Manhattan, it could be upwards of 15%?
