Hi,
I've tried to do a search to get an answer to my upcoming question and I'm going around in circles.
We are flying into Boston for a trip up to Maine. Before heading up to Maine, we are going to spend the night in Boston and catch a Red Sox game the next day. We need advice on where to park for the game as we will have to check out of the hotel prior to the game and we will have a rental car to keep our suitcases etc., What we would like to do is park at a T station for the day, catch the subway to Fenway, leave the game, hop back on the T and grab our car and head to Maine!
Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thanks.

The Riverside T station has a huge lot but is in the opposite direction of Maine. You could park at the Prudential center and try to get validated by one of the eateries there or just pay to park in the garage. Parking in private lots around Fenway will cost you a fortune.

drive in, bring some quarters, and feed a meter on commonwealth ave.

Even if you get a ticket, its cheaper than parking at the stadium.

Is this the Newton area?

It is actually the last stop on the green line D in Auburndale(Newton) so yes it is Newton. It is a large lot and very convenient for people west of the city.

It's at the junction of I-90 and I-95 (128). They can jump right on 95 there which is the road they need to be on. Not sure how its out of the way.

Alternatively, they could park at the Wellington (orange line) or Alewife (Red Line) stops which are north of the city but those would require transfers to the green line to get to the game. Theyd also be pess direct in terms of driving. I'd go with Riverside as its direct and I-95 is right there. It's the easiest for an out of towner.

The Auditorium Garage (50 Dalton St.) is $16 for a sox game. That's not much more than what it would cost for parking at a T station and paying the fare to get into town for 2 people. If you're already in town you can just park there and walk over to the stadium.

I generally park at the Prudential Center when I go in to Sox games. It is about a mile walk to Fenway from there. Not sure if they still do this, but in the past if you show them a sox ticket stub when you leave, parking for the game is $10.

Anything near fenway will cost you $30-60.

Probably too late for you, but if anyone else is trying this... take the T from the airport to the hotel, it is free. Use the T for your in-Boston stuff, then when you are leaving town pick up your rental. It'll save you some money (and the hassle of parking), plus it's easier (and often quicker) to get around town by T than by car.

EDIT: Ahh, the suitcases... in your case, the T stop you would have wanted is probably Wellington or one of the northern Orange Line stops. Easy transfer from Green to Orange coming from Fenway, and puts you right on I93 North heading towards Maine.

Can't you leave your car in the hotel's garage even after you checked out? I've done that before.
