We recently ended our rental lease just over a month ago. When we left the apartment was spotless except for a small cosmetic dent on the dish washer which we caused. I didn't think it was worth repairing because the only option to fix it is to replace the door ($300). Before we moved out I talked to the building management and said we didn't feel comfortable replacing it. If they want to fix it go ahead and charge our security a reasonable amount.

Now it has been over a month and we haven't heard from them about our security deposit. So I emailed asking if they had any news about it and they just replied asking if it was fixed? Why would they ask us if it was fixed? Aren't they supposed to know? Can we request a full security deposit since its been over 30 days?

Thanks
