I'll disagree slightly. Union Oyster House and Quincy Market ARE overpriced tourist traps. But, I wouldn't agree that the food is terrible in either of them. Bad food to me, is when you think you're going to be ill, or that you actually think it's terrible. They're just going to leave you thinking you paid a lot for what turns out to be pretty average food, but you're not going to walk out/not eat what you ordered.

I actually thought it was terrible. Overcooked mussels and overcooked (and underseasoned) fish is my idea of a terrible meal. They took the mussels off the bill because we didn't, in fact, eat them.

That's what I get for letting the visiting in-laws pick the restaurant....they had heard it was "the place to go" by a friend who had visited Boston about 30 years ago.

Wagamama in Quincy Market is not what I would consider a tourist trap. It's also not overpriced either. That and Anthem are the two reasons I venture into the Quincy Market area. Unless people are in town visiting and that's one of our stops.

Count me as someone who is not a fan of Union Oyster House. Especially with Neptune (One of the best Seafood restaurants in the country) literally a 5 minute walk away. You can do okay at Union Oyster House if you stick to the basics though. Sit at the Oyster Bar, order a dozen hand shucked oysters, cup of chowder and a Harpoon or Sam. Then get the heck out and dont go anywhere near the dining area.
