Hi,

We are moving to Boston from England and I've read about the Boston Tea Party and I'm wondering if there are still hard feelings about that.

Thanks.

You won't like the American teas (Salada, Lipton, etc) - so bring a case full of good English tea when you come. Our local market carries "Yorkshire" tea which is my favorite now. Fortnum & Mason tea is very nice, too.

Thanks for your reply and advice about tea.

I'm also looking for a good polo club for junior as well as a nice park to play footie on the weekends. I'll need to commute to Boston for my employment.

We are considering moving to Roxbury as real estate seems very reasonable to be so close to the town centre.

Would this town be recommended?

Thank you.

No no no.
Roxbury is a neighborhood in Boston. It formerly was a very low-income "ghetto"neighborhood (meaning essentially low-income black people). It has since become somewhat more gentrified but it still has significant crime.

Polo? You mean horses and mallets? The only place is on the North Shore, quite outside Boston- Hamilton is the town that comes to mind, and those up that way. Beautiful towns, expensive.
As for footie, I think anywhere you have other immigrants from all nations, you'll find games everywhere. I'm thinking of Watertown, next to Boston, a nice urbane community with good transport downtown, or Cambridge, where the colleges are (expensive housing), although I'm not sure how expensive it is relative to costs where you are now.
Do not consider Roxbury, especially for family life, as the public schools are pretty rough.
Good luck.

Thank you for that.

That certainly explains the real estate market. Although I'm not new to crime - our polo club was vandalized last year and my mother's purse was stolen at a cafe.

I also like some diversity - for example, I don't mind people from Wales or even Ireland.
