Late night weekend service begins tonight. Many trains and buses will depart central stations at 2:30 or later. Take advantage!

I'm almost tempted to stay out late and test it out.

I am as well, but then I have no idea what the heck I'd be doing if I were out at that time. I see bands all the time and nothing goes that late.

Seems like a success!

MBTA's Late-Night T Service Hits the Tracks

Good to see Beverly Scott out there as well, greeting everyone. Zero arrests reported by MBTA Police.

Seems a lot of fun. Most every one is young, educated and packed in against each other while a bit buzzed. Probably lots of photos being snapped as well.

Almost an extension of the bar or nightclub, but on wheels!

I just worry about everyone once off the train and navigating the streets home at nearly 3 am.

Not sure that would be any different than at 1am, and if it keeps a few more people from driving, then great.

Bars/clubs, late movies, there's quite a lot of food establishments open till 2AM in the more college-y sections of the city, etc. Or simply having a longer night to spend visiting friends.

Also, with the old closing time, getting a train after 12:30AM was a crapshoot. It might be listed on the schedule as "last train departs at: 12:XX/1:XX AM", but in reality it was often that service gets very irregular after 12AM.
