Hasn't some Jewish community life spilled over into Randolph, which I think is more affordable than Sharon?

It's the opposite. Randolph has gone down hill. The schools are in big trouble there, the crime rate has gone up.

Canton would be another good town to look at.

Smile Renting my 4 bdrm house in Sharon

I am thinking of renting my 4 brdrm, 1 and one half bath house located on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood in Sharon. I recently had the interior painted, remodeled the bathrooms and the kitchen, which has wood floors and granite counter tops. The entire house is in excellent condition, hardwood floors throughout, large spacious rooms, especially the living, dining and master bedroom. There is a large fenced-in back yard and parking for 4 cars, plus a one car garage. (The bad news is that I am off Bay Rd only 1.4 miles from the Crescent Ridge Dairy which is extremely habit-forming!). The house is furnished, with all new appliances and could be available February 1st or later, for either a long or short term rental.

Sharon seems like a winner, any other towns?

Perhaps you could look at Stoughton or Easton. There's a significant Jewish presence in these towns, as well.

The towns don't have to be predominantly Jewish, actually a good ethnic mix is good for us, and our kids. "Somewhat Jewish" is ok too. Any other thoughts?

I know this sounds a little discriminatory, but whenever someone says Sharon, first thing that comes to mind is the Jewish population. It's a dry town, and there is no smoking outside. Weird, but the residents do enjoy it. It's a very nice town too.

Stoughton is a dump, I don't recommend that. However, Easton is a great town to live in.

My first thought of an up and coming youngish town regardless of religion is Newburyport. Was just there this weekend and was loaded with young families pushing baby strollers sipping their lattes. If you are from Ca. like myself, this town will remind you of any upscale younger area in So. Ca. without the hefty price tag. Cute walkable town next to the water with plenty of restaurants and transportation to the city. Personally, Sharon was just too far out there for us with a very small "downtown" area.

I love Newburyport but it's a lot farther away from Boston than any of the towns listed in the OP if you have to commute. It's just over an hour on the commuter rail but if you're not going downtown and need to drive to work closer to Boston it's a rough commute.
