I will commute to Allston everyday for work. How's the traffic on I-93?

Yes, it's safe, especially Port Norfolk, very quiet and secluded from the rest of Dorchester. Commuting into the city isn't difficult either, the traffic is bad up to the Columbia Rd exit and then it eases up

If you're commuting to Allston you'd be better off living in Allston or Brighton.

Is there somewhere in Allston I'm not familiar with which is not near MBTA service?

Would you be taking 93 to the Pike, west to the Cambridge/Allston exit? Sounds like a tough commute at rush hour, and you're going with the traffic.

The T doesn't seem much better; maybe you can get a bus to Central Sq., then change to the 66 to Allston. Well over an hour each way.

Pretty much all of Allston north of the Mass Pike.

Yes, there's the 66 bus in some areas but there are large swaths of Allston that are a hike from the green line or bus.

Proximity to the T isn't an indication of convenience.

I lived in Port Norfolk for a while. It is very safe. The traffic sucks out loud during rush hours. That is a reality. I cannot speak for the T as I rarely used it where I worked from home and traveled mostly with my own schedule.

That little slice of heaven is exactly that, HEAVEN in the city.

Way back, I also would leave at 5 in the morning to work in the Kenmore area and was able to come home just before the traffic time. That was a great situation. If you are willing to go early or if you can, that was great. You are really traversing the city from one end to another. I will say, that the pike westbound in the am is pretty decent past the Prudential Center.
