Young professions looking to move to Boston in the next week. Would like to find an area with the following qualities: (1) close to the T or commuter rail; (2) in a quiet, safe area near Brighton; (3) Easily able to have a car; and (4) Rent, no more than ~$1500 for a 2 BR.

Does this place exist?? Any additional details would be great!

Quick turnaround time. One week to move?

I'm assuming Brighton itself doesn't fit the bill since the area close to the T is not as easy to park? Brighton Center has places in that range and has an express bus with somewhat limited hours that gets downtown fast. Other, regular, buses like the 57, 65, and 86 can get you to the T (either Green Line or Red Line at Harvard), but that often takes an hour to get downtown.

Since you have a car another possibility is the area in Belmont and Watertown along the 73 bus, or even the 71. It's just across the river from Brighton. My girlfriend lives here, on the Belmont side a few blocks from the Cambridge line, and takes the bus 15 min. to Harvard Sq. and then it's a quick trip downtown on the Red Line. Total trip about 35-40 mins. She's got a great place and there are nice big apartments with parking for a good price. Belmont car insurance is also cheaper than Boston.

The best search on boston.craigslist.org would be "Belmont Harvard" or "Watertown Harvard" The closer to Harvard the better, since the bus takes longer as go get farther out.

West Newton is on the commuter rail and has some places in that range also.
