I always wait in a long line at the taxi stand when coming back from a trip. So wondering if Uber may be a better way to get out of the airport. To those of you who used Uber to leave the BOS airport, do you recommend it? Does it save you money vs a traditional taxi ride? How long was the wait?

Re the pickup: how do you figure out which is your Uber ride when you are in the waiting area? Does Uber give you the car description and lic plate # so you can wave down the driver?

Thanks in Advance

Uber does pick up at Logan but only in livery plated cars - UberBlack. But then those drivers are allowed to charge UberX fares which goes against their agreement with Logan. Uber is also adding on an airport fee which has noting to do with the airport - it's simply an add on.

Cost may not be much different versus taxi if you are just going into the city.

I am not sure where or when you are going, but the Silver line to South Station might be a solution. Maybe a cab or Uber from South Station, or transfer or whatever. Inbound Airport to South Station is free.

Yes. It's slow and clunky.

Getting to the pick-up area and waiting takes just as long as the cab line. I think it's slightly cheaper but there's still an airport fee.

Thanks guys for your info. Silver Line is definitely too slow. I took it once and it took 30+ min to get to South Station. Majority of my trips are business related so I don't necessarily need to skimp on the money (though I don't want to overpay either). I'm mostly looking for efficiency.

Use the cab stand. With Uber the quality of driver is always a crapshoot.

I use it out in the burbs when I need a ride to the train station because it's easier than calling a cab and a little less expensive. For what you're describing I think a regular cab is best.

That's what I already do - get a taxi from the cab stand. But there are nights when taxi's are really slow and there is a looong line at the cab stand. For example, I was once queued up with 50+ people in Terminal B. I'm just checking if Uber is a viable alternative when taxi seems to take forever.

UberX drivers can't pick-up at Logan Airport. They can, however, pick-up at the Airport T stop, so you could just take the shuttle bus to Airport station and get your ride from there.
