It takes forever for Spring to get here and it's so darn expensive.

I like how the city is pretty accessible, there's some good food, and overall, education is highly valued.

The only bad news is the $$$ price to live in the city.

Only downside is high real estate costs. But everywhere I've lived that is worthwhile to live has (relatively) high real estate costs.

High housing costs, the MBTA is a disaster half the time and you better enjoy winter. On the plus side, there are lots of things to do. If you enjoy history, it is all over. Decent venues for bands to play shows and the city is very walkable. You can cover most of downtown in a couple hours.

Like others have said, it's expensive. Other than that: the climate, it’s a pain to get around (going 5 miles can take over an hr in some places), it can be an intense and competitive place, people are not warm (many seem like they want to be left alone and act offended if you say hi).

That said, my list of good things is very long.

Best of luck.

The worst thing - at least in my opinion - is traffic. I live on the South Shore and traffic into Boston starts getting heavy about 5:30 AM. It subsides about 10:30 AM.

Coming home, it's already heavy by 3 PM and continues until about 7 PM.

Throw in rain or snow and there are days that you really want to find a cheap hotel. Except that it's Boston, and there are no cheap hotels.

Best things? Seasons. All four. The food, sports, the ocean, whale watches and fishing, proximity to the mountains in NH and coastal Maine. Great schools, world class hospitals and museums.

There's no place else I'd rather live.

Bad things.....ugly winter, massghole drivers and certain degree of localism and their cringe worthy accents.

Good things....level of education quite high with so many schools and brainy people, sort of eclectic in certain parts, the Cape, WGBH PBS.

HOMETO2,

We are the best, just ask us. Boston is a great city with a great oversized ego and we deserve it.
As for our driving, we can change a tire going 30 miles per hour. For that, we do need to slow a bit,
Lots of great schools/hospitals (agreeing with the above posts) etc. The best eateries and you can get around on the T

Hope we are good to you

Best things, opportunity for lifelong learning and to stay current in work related skills due to having many educational opportunities and that it still has a sense of place, well preserved history. Boston is getting overbuilt though. Too many tall buildings in a small space is the trend.
