Or work your way down Rt. 99 to Sulivan Sq., grab 93 N to 128 S to Framingham which may be easier than dealing with the Tobin Bridge and O'Neil tunnel traffic.

It's hard for me being able to imagine that as being near as fast. I get 93S from Sullivan (where I live) to 90W to go to Westborough and its pretty darn fast as its a reverse commute.

Awesome! I'm gonna try to sit down with all these suggestions tonight and figure out what the optimum route would be around 7/7:15 time frame-ish. Maybe I should utilize google maps a bit as well to come up with an estimated arrival time. To me the backroutes sound much better to get on I-90W instead of 1A. At least I'll be moving instead of sitting duck on the highway.

Thank you everyone for all of your inputs. If there are any other suggestions please feel free to share them.

You might want to consider leaving earlier. I found a large uptick in congestion if I leave at 7/7:15am compared to 6:45 am.

I'm gonna try waking up earlier, but it might be tough ... especially in the winter

If your friends parents don't require a long-term commitment from you, I'd take them up on the offer and live there for a few months. You'll get a good feel for the commute, as well as be able to identify where you might want to live longer-term. You might also meet some potential roommates, too.

You can also use the time to save up money for first/last/fee or deposit. If your rent is $1200, it'll cost you $3600 upfront to get into a place.

This is an excellent suggestion.

This is a good suggestion. There aren't many 1BR apts in th 800-1200 range in the greater Boston metro area, but later, if you do like Framingham, you might be able to find one there..

Oh yeah. I'm definitely taking them up on that offer. I can potentially save $4K+ if I take on that offer and put that towards my student loans. At the same time I will get a feel for the area and see if I can find something in the somerville/ medford/ arlington area.
