Hi, I have scheduled for road test at RMV watertown on next Wednesday. I am a beginner and have not driven much on Boston roads except 9hrs of instructed driving lessons. I failed in recent test in Brookline due to my mistakes that the right turn was a bit wider from one way to two way road and I forgot to signal once while pulling out. I was a bit nervous and did Parallel parking properly.

I could not book the easy Saturday tests through driving school due to 3 weeks wait period and decided to schedule it myself on RMV website and opted for 3pm slot among 3pm and 4pm slots on Wednesday, the only available slots for next week. Is this a good time i.e. not so much traffic around?

Is there any way to get reliable sponsors as I am unable to rent a car myself with my permit. Is it acceptable, if a friend or my sponsor rents car from zipcar etc. for my road test? Or should it be done only by applicant?

I am planning to practice with my friends before the test. Is it allowed to go around the test route to practice for 1-2 hour before the test, same day or previous day?

Any body experienced? Any suggestions on what I should keep in mind or any special situation in that locality. I will be very thankful for your help.

Have a great Sunday evening!!

I haven't taken a road test in a while but there shouldn't be much traffic around those times. I live right across the street and its a pretty easy area to drive around minus waiting at the lights. Make sure your car has a center e-brake or they won't let you take the test. You can take the test with anyone over the age of 18 i believe (double check). It does not have to be a parent or anything. One thing you want to make sure is that you are stopping before the lines at the lights and pay attention to the speed limits. Good Luck!

Technically I think your friend would be violating zipcar's terms of use if he or she let someone else drive the car, but I'm not sure the DMV cares about whose car it is, so long as it has the center e-brake (which seem to be getting more and more rare, I don't know what DMVs are going to do about that in the future).

I never took the road test in MA but I know in NY driving on the road test route with a learners permit is a violation.
