Hows it going,

My name's AJ. I live in San Diego, CA and I'm excited to be visiting Boston in mid April for one week on business. I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but I'd like to know from you locals what to expect weatherwise.

I don't own a jacket and several people have advised me I need to invest in "winter clothing" before I make my trip. Being from San Diego, I have a warped sense of what cold weather is. To us, Las Vegas is the east coast. Is it really still cold in April?

Also, can you advise a 33 year old single guy of some must do's while in your wonderful city.

Thanks all in advance and have a great weekend!

AJ

"I'd like to know from you locals what to expect weatherwise"

That's the question people from the North East ask every day. You'll need a mid-weight jacket and an umbrella. No need for winter clothes. NE spring is similar to the January we (So Cal) had this year. Rainy and cool temps one day then sunny and 55-65 the next. Where will you be staying while you visit?

April (and really anytime) is hard to predict but the advice given by slang is good. It can get chilly at night, so bring a jacket, but it would be unusual (though not unprecedented) to have sub-freezing temps or snow.

Go to a Red Sox game at Fenway. You've never been to a game until you've been to Fenway. It's unlike any other game watching experience you'll ever have.

Go Sox!

Here are some average numbers... if we can predict the weather like SD, we will be rich. Many thinks 50s is cold but there are others that think it is warm. If you don't walk much, any type of clothing will do.

As the old saying goes... if you don't like the weather, wait a day. If you do like the weather, enjoy it or it will go away fast.

Hr of Sunlight in April: 7hr
Average temp
Min 37.4F
Max 53.6F

Record temp
Min 10.4F
Max 89.6F
