I know right. You would think just based on how many "packing up and coming to Boston, where should i go" posts on here that people are always eager to come to desirable locations. Especially in the age group Amazon is hunting.

People on citydata also have outrageous expectations.

The age and skill group. These aren't going to be average college grads.

I think people estimate how many people coming to Boston are well educated, well paid college grads, these people can go anywhere in the country and live a fantastic life-they’re coming and steadily but it’s kind of a small portion of the actual migration to the area. Everyone knows it a great area economically and there is a good chance for personal and professional development. It’s a mixed bag of hard working, smart people, of all backgrounds but only a few of them get the big money, fewer than probably deserve it.

Even if 50% of Boston in 2018 has a college degree how many are from top schools and how many are in stem fields? Even if we say 40% that’s 1/5 of Boston adults being the elite that we talk about here on the boards.

I think those estimates are very high. I'd say the elite is less than 5%.

Remember there are people on this forum who don't consider a state University to be a real college degree, so that would eliminate another huge segment.

Although its a little disappointing, I don't think this city is ready for an influx of people the size Amazon is saying will be necessary for HQ2. Even 25,000 people means 50,000 more cars.

Its already happening whether Amazon comes or not - the influx of workers to the area is way up.
