Well, not many, but Fort Mudge Memorial Dump was from there and they're responsible for one of the best of the Boston area's late 60s psych records (I slightly prefer The Freeborne LP). It's the only really notable thing I know from that town, but its pretty killer, esp if you're into Jefferson Airplane type stuff or the Boston Tea Party scene.

Again, these differences are big if you're in or around Boston, but really inconsequential if you're with someone from far away. It's not usually disingenuous or insecure as there isn't a ton of status associated with living within the Boston city limits. If someone from Glendale tells me the live in LA, I'd think they were just simplifying; if the say they're from Beverly Hills I might think they're insecure.

And I'd say the differences within Boston are often just as big as the differences between Boston and nearby towns. Dedham is more similar to West Roxbury than Back Bay is. It's certainly closer.

Sure, its part of Boston and not a separate town. Hard to imagine anyone having an issue with that one.

Imagine finding out you were delivered at (god forbid) Mt. Auburn Hospital.... Would you delete your forums account and rename for authenticity?

Not true.. when im in Florida and people ask where am i from, I say Boston.... I dont say Canton, MA .. because noone knows what Canton is. Its not insecure, its just easier and creates less of a painful conversation of me explaining where Canton is. I dont say Near Boston, I was raised in a household that just says Boston cause its easier and quicker! No hard feelings.

However, if you are from Woburn or Weymouth and asked where Im from.. il say Canton.

If you are from Worcester, il say Canton too... If you are from Albany, il say Boston.

It can't feel different than Boston. It is Boston. It might feel different from Fenway...
