My daughter lives in Boston and needs a car this summer. We can't afford to buy her one but could rent her one to drive. Rental agencies say she has to be 21 years of age. Any other options??

If she goes to a college in Boston that supports Zipcar, you can rent those by the hour/day at 18. However, if she's not at a college, the earliest date for those are 21 as well.

If she's in Boston though, she really shouldn't need to get a car. The best option if it's *really* necessary is to look on craigslist or Facebook marketplace for beater cars cheap that students are trying to get rid of when they graduate. I've seen some for under $2000. Not sure if your daughter would want to take that risk but it might be her only option other than buses or cabs.

She does attend college and would be living in the Medford area. She needs to make $$$ and is looking for a waitressing job. Last year she worked late hours and I was very concerned about her safety. We will look into craigslist as an option. Thanks!
