Hi, I'm going to be making the move up to Boston from Atlanta in the fall, so it is safe to say I don't know much about Boston neighborhoods. I am looking for 1 bedrooms, with a relatively short commute to Boston University's campus. I am not picky about the population of the neighborhoods, I want lively and don't mind if the areas are a mix of undergrad and grad students.

I've seen a lot about Allston? Any advice about that or other areas that would be good for a new comer to make friends, and easily get between class and home.

Thanks!

Allston certainly is the "lively" option. There is a lot to do around there. A lot of food, live entertainment, people your age... It's a great place to live in your 20s - early 30's

As always, start with a budget. And, roommates or no.

Allston if you don't mind lots of undergrads and general filth. Brighton if you want some more quiet.

When I was in law school at BU, I lived in Brookline. My now-husband lived in Allston. Almost all of my friends lived in Brighton, Allston or Brookline.

Personally, my first choice would be Brookline, followed by Brighton.
