I remember the IHOP in Kenmore Square (long gone) was 24/7, and I want to say the one on Soldier's Field Rd. too. Quincy used to be open till 3am. And the Bickford's in Braintree was 24/7, I think that closed though?

Pre Covid, wasn't Victoria's diner open 24 hours on the weekends? I just checked the hours now and it seems like it's only open mornings, but I believe that's a new development.

Also, Clover Food Lab in Central Square Cambridge was open 24 hours pre-covid and the McDonalds across the street is open 23 1/2 hours per day.

I don't know if it's statewide or individual towns. I think stores like say Walmart have to close from midnight to 5 or 6am.

It's a town thing.

Sometimes I see shorter government office hours on Fridays due to traffic and I can understand that student schedules have a huge impact on library staffing.

One of the reasons why casinos took awhile is to be frank they don't close (up until covid). When you have something that doesn't close next to things that do. It has an impact. I remember a few people posting videos of being there at 4am. It's also bright and staffed. I'm not even saying we need alcohol late at night but it was nice to pop in if it's a late night have a coffee or soda and talk to people and go home. I'm a bit of a fan of the old school diners myself.

I'd also add that signage tends to be a factor as well. In retail I remember we expanded to the cape but the town would not allow a lit sign. To have something electric that's 75+ feet in the air to something on the ground and made of wood doesn't really capture the eye.

That Yelp listing is wrong. Their FaceBook page puts the hours at 11 AM - 9 PM. If you can find a pizza place open 24 hours, it's probably the only one in the world. The longest hours for a pizza restaurant I have ever heard of is 10 AM - 5 AM, and those are extremely rare. Even in areas with a lot of nightlife, pizza places will generally close around 2 AM or 3 AM.

Do you think having 24 hour casinos will help motivate other nearby businesses to be 24 hours?

(just checked, even the NYC casino closes at 5am)
