Does anyone on the forum regularly drive on Rte 9 between Reservoir Road and Norfolk Road in Brookline? If so, what is that SMELL?!?!? Depending on the day, it can smell like a sewage treatment plant or a broken gas line. Does anybody with that particular set of driving habits have any idea what it is? It has been pretty much a constant from late winter to now. AFAIK, it kind of puts the kibosh on the idea of spending any time in Chestnut Hill (the residential part).

Is it strongest around 7pm? After burritos are eaten and outdoor squatting exercises are performed in the vicinity by men and women?

The odd smells are likely coming from the Hammond Residential office.

Thank you for all of the responses! They are tres joiie! But, none of them answer the question. The experience is gross, and I am curious. I guess trivial observations that don't involve school systems, housing values, and race are of no use on the Boston forum. My bad, I guess. Cheers!

That's one consequence of gentrification. Interesting people are displaced by upper crust yuppies who all like and pursue the exact same things in life.

OK, but that doesn't account for the smell. If it's that bad, the residents of Chestnut Hill won't put up with it for long.

Looks like they drained the reservoir there on Rt 9. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
