The 100 push-ups a day sounds like a good idea, too.

I don't really get knee pain. My issue is plantar fasciitis. For that I just need to change shoes about twice as often as the general recommendations, I'm not exactly a light stepper. I sometimes get some hip tightening, but have been doing some personal training every other week to try to loosen things up. So, I guess I'm lucky? Though the PF is brutal when it comes on.

Late here, but consider your form. Are you hitting heel first? Change your style and land toes/ball first. It's a smoother action and you will run faster. It's really weird to do at first, but a couple days and it becomes natural. Much, much easier on the knees that way too. Lean forward into the run when you do this, don't lean back as one would with a heel first running style.
