I've been looking through the threads and thought that I would get a little more specific with the question.

I'm 28, will be making 60K a year before taxes and would like a place with some good local nightlife. I'll be renting and I can settle for a studio, although a 1B would be ideal; I could even settle for a roomate in a 2/3B My office will be downtown, but most of the time I will be commuting to client offices which will be scattered around Boston and the surrounding area. For this reason I will also have a car.

Soooo, what neighborhood? Do I use a broker?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How much money can you spend on rent per month?

Back Bay, Brookline and South End are expensive. Fenway is not too far behind but affordable if you get a studio.

There is also Jamaica Plain, parts of Cambridge, Allston/Brighton.

As far as nightlife goes, there is a lot of it. Being close to a T line always helps but as long as you're in or close to Boston-proper, there are always cab rides.
