Am I the only one who thinks $101k/year isn't all that much for Boston?

yea. That's just way above the median yearly income. Unless you think 80% of Boston is flat broke.

Housing cost makes up for all of that difference.

Crazy that teachers in Chelsea only make 69k https://profiles.doe.mass.edu/profil...leftNavId=815& No wonder why it has one of the bottom 10 High Schools in the state.

It's about what I would expect. Remember the average teacher there has quite a few years in.

That "average" for Houston? If so I imagine that goes just as far there as 100K does in Boston given its much higher COL. But don't expect that kind of pay for a few years anyway. Also, remember MA has a state income tax of around 5%. Higher energy/gas costs, or MBTA costs if you commute by public transit.

It's about 8-10k higher than I'd expect but whatever. It's still a very decent salary and definitely above the city wide norm for one person by a very large margin.

It's more than I would guess based on a few years ago, but then again most things have risen since then some by a LOT. You can't compare a BPS teacher's salary to the "city wide norm", however you want to measure that.

Yep. STARTING teachers with minimum qualifications (BS and nothing else) start at $58.6k or $63.8k if they are schedule A

Comparison: same starting teacher in Worcester made $48.3k last year (can't find the 20-21 contract), Framingham starts at $50k, North Adams starts at just $37,250.
