Another thing to remember is that (to my knowledge) San Francisco doesn't have rent control. So it doesn't make much sense to say that having it would lead the city to follow it's west coast peer in terms of affordability.

What I do wonder is whether Wu (or anyone else) would be able to reinstate rent control at all, when it sounds like it was removed at the state-level.
SF does have some rent control. It's widely loved.

A lot of her "answers" for things involve the "statewide level". She may understand that, but the majority of the electorate may not (all that matters for her).

Right, SF has rent control as well as plenty of "neighborhood input" when it comes to new construction, exactly what Wu has been pushing. Now remind me, what's the average monthly rent of a two bedroom apartment in SF? What about the average price of a two bedroom condo?

I don't know about now. I paid quite a bit when I lived there (Inner Richmond). I paid quite a bit in the Boston area too.

Worth it in both cases.

As usual, you're very hard to follow there boss. Boston rents are "worth it", yet you want to impose artificial limits on what can be charged? Which to my understanding, that will result in rents being "less" than they are worth (and effectively admitting that landlords will be screwed over in the process)??? Explain that one to me.

What is it being controlled at?

I didn’t know SF had rent control at all, let alone how it works over there.

I'm not sure how one person alone can decide if Boston prices are worth it. Maybe it was worth it for them.

Clearly people like boston given the amounts they are willing to pay...but we've also had a global influx of wealthy people.

I have no knowledge either, but whatever they are doing doesn't seem like something Boston would want to replicate (despite some of our forum members probably getting a hard on over $2,795 average rents for a 1 bedroom apartment).

IMHO it's more prominent in the second ad. Note the first was from before the election and the second after. Maybe the first was to appeal to non-native residents and the second is to show she's a hometown girl, not like that carpet bagger Wu.
