No, that’s your argument, which you’ve hardly kept a secret.

Well, it’s based on real-world results - defundies get us Minneapolis and maoista rentcontrollas get us San Francisco. Do you have any real-world US examples showing a different outcome? And no, I’m not interested in seeing a bbbbbbut Denmark apples to power drills comparison.

You have it backwards. Minneapolis created the 'defundies', not the other way around.

Minneapolis PD had plenty of issues for sure but the city was a tolerable place to live as far as crime went prior to defundies crawling out of the woodwork. It is now a crime-infested hellhole with daily shootings and carjackings all over the city, even in the ritziest parts. That’s the defundie part.

As far as maoisms go - new construction is no longer profitable and nothing gets built, people still need to live somewhere and more are coming for all those high-paying jobs, what happens to existing real estate prices and rents?

Minneapolis has had 74 homicides this year. It's not exactly Detroit.

Wu's BPDA elimination idea is interesting. Boston may have needed a development "authority" in the 1950s when new construction was mostly no longer profitable without a lot of help from the city but that hasn't been true in a long time. Making the planning and development process more transparent should open up the field to more players.

Minneapolis has 429k people. Boston has 692K. 74 homicides in Minneapolis would be like Boston having 119 homicides with three months left to go in the year. We are talking early 90s levels there. It's nothing to sneeze at, they got some serious problems especially considering the they were not long ago one of the safest large cities.

Correct, St Floydadishu had 74 so far and is well on track to break 100 this year. Now remind me, how many did it have in 2019, and what was its all-time high?
