You’ll be living with mommy and daddy a lot longer now that comrade chairWuman is turning us into East San Francisco, all those $450,000 Dorchester condos you were whining about will seem like a huge bargain in a year or so. Like hell you’ll wish you paid those prices!

What working poor? Whichever ones that are still living here will get booted out to Brockton or Fall River once their section 8 rentals magically morph into granited and stainlessed condos for all the incoming well-paid professionals who won’t have any other place to live as new construction is now officially banned.

Yes I know there are plenty of people that take the T can afford it. But for those that can't, making it free would be a bit of relief.

For now, I think we'd be better off with a targeted approach to free T rides for people who need them. Something in line with applying for other city and state support programs (SNAP, unemployment, rental assistance, etc.). In the abstract, I think free public transit for everyone would be great. But without identifying other funding sources, that lost revenue from riders who can afford to pay would be a crippling blow to the already cash-strapped agency. And while I wouldn't hate not paying for the T, there's zero reason I shouldn't be paying to ride. There are, however, plenty of people who should be able to ride for free or deeply discounted fares.

Free as in funded via abolished residential exemption and jacked up property taxes? Because that's what comrade chairWuman has been hinting at if you actually bothered to listen instead of happily running off once you heard "free."

Wow let's just give people a break on everything. From school loans to daycare to riding the T. I'd love a break on my mortgage payment, that'd be great.

This is the direction many people want our country headed in. They don't want low income people to have to pay for anything or to even have to work. Universal healthcare and pay for all.

Yeah, wow. It's crazy that some people believe that income shouldn't to be a barrier to accessing healthcare or commuting to get to work or other basic needs. Nuts.

It's not just healthcare now though. As i just said...it's becoming everything. There will be a new class of poor. Hope you're not part of it as prices for everything to continue to go up.
